11:15PM - A day in the life of Samma

So first time for everything today, literally in more ways than one - far too much to discuss at one sitting I believe. Most amusing was the chain caught in my tire. Yes, chain, like a little dog chain, in my tire. Want a play by play? Doesn't matter you're getting it anyway.

Got gas at White's on the way home from work and I start to pull out, kind of growling at my non-working CD player (it doesn't work when it's the least bit chilled). Hear something rather strange that only gets louder as I try to run away from it. So I stop, wondering what the heck the sound is and a back toward the lighted place in White's parking lot near the vacuums. Find the chain in my tire and just stare at it for a moment wondering if I should just put the spare on and mess with the chain when I get home or not. I decide the spare is too much trouble because hello! last time the jack and me had some serious debate over whether my fingers were allowed to still be a part of my hand or not.

Gut instinct says to cut the chain, leave the piece in the tire so it will block the leak until I can get home and truly fix it. Five minutes later I only find a chinese made 'swiss' army knife in my car and a metal brush. So I can either saw at the chain for fifteen minutes or make it shiny.

Fail.

After a few calls to my beloved sister to get her hubby to bring me a pair of pliers I remember the tool kit that I won at HD carnival bingo several years ago. I now have new love for HD - beyond measure. Seriously, I love tool kits. If I ever get money to spend on idle things I will start collecting tool kits.

So I put up the stupid knife and brush, tear off the plastic of the tool kit, flip the tabs - can't get it open. Random annoyed noise comes out of my mouth sounding a lot like a 'mad-squirrel noise' until I see a zip tie (TINY) holding it closed at the handle. Dig for the knife again - also find the missing headlight bulb I was searching for a year ago - and begin to saw away at the zip tie while telling bro-in-law that I got it under control. He has serious doubts.

Apparently so does my father who keeps telling me to call him each time I hang up so I can WORK on the tire. At this time there are also two people coming toward me with a Wal-Mart cart. (For those of you that don't know, Wal-Mart is 25 minutes away if you drive sanely.) I ignore for the most part at this time.

Pliers out means chain is eventually thwarted and I proceed to stand with my hand over the poor wound in my tire to see if I can feel any air for about a minute before I realize that it is so useless because yeah - it's kind of cold my hands can't feel crap like a small puncture blast of air coming from a tire. People with cart are coming closer so I stand and give them the glare of doom. Seriously have to wonder about my glare of doom and what happens because the two avoid me and go for the Subway couple arguing about who's driving back home.

Pack everything up. Look over myself to realize that the family curse of getting grease on our person whenever we touch something other than the door handle of a car has occurred.

Yes, grease on elbow. How? Don't ask. My family is just absolute MAGIC that way. FML

I actually drive between 55-60 mph ALL THE WAY HOME, which is so wrong. I don't even do that while following a state trooper back. Never. Park car outside of carport so I will have room to change the tire in the morning cause I just know this tiny little run of bad luck just can't be over yet.

Oh, and we now have a cat hanging around the house that begs at the door. Perfect.
